Types Of Care
Assisted Living
Residential Health Care
Home Plus
Adult Day Care
All types of "state licensed only" facilities are licensed and regulated by the state of Kansas. Care they may
provide or coordinate includes
- Supervised nursing care
- Personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers and mobility
- Medication management or assistance
- Meals
- Activities
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Transportation
- Special care such as dementia care
The philosophy of these types of care emphasizes the right of the individual to choose the setting for care and services. Customers, or residents, share the responsibility for their daily activities and well-being with a staff geared to helping them enjoy the freedom and independence of private living. These settings are generally not a substitute for but rather a complement to nursing facility care.
Assisted Living, Residential Health Care, Home Plus and Adult Day Care is not paid for by Medicare. Private funds or "out of pocket" payment is required unless the facility is part of the state's Medicaid waiver program. Long-term care insurance may also pay for the resident's care.
